This systematic review examined the potential role of tele-ultrasound, handheld, and self-operated ultrasound devices in prenatal care. It assessed how this technology could have enhanced accessibility, accuracy, and convenience for pregnant individuals, especially in remote or underserved areas.
The review highlighted Pulsenmore technology as the leading and sole innovation for patient-operated home ultrasound and underscored its feasibility and the high level of patient satisfaction.

The home ultrasound device was feasible, comparable, and well-correlated with standard IC scans, laying the basis for remote home-based monitoring of follicular development during ovarian stimulation. We believe this also applies to monitoring milder stimulations and even natural cycles.

In this large-scale, retrospective real-world study, we aimed to examine the association between home ultrasound service utilization during pregnancy and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Remote visits had a success rate of 97.4% (38 of 39), with significantly shorter durations compared with in-clinic visits (median 59.0 min vs. 159.0 min, P < 0.001). Women expressed high satisfaction (6.6 of 7), and adherence with recording fasting glucose values during the study period was significantly higher than the following period until birth (92.2% vs. 61.8%, P = 0.001). Notably, none required induction of labor for glycemic control imbalance, and there were no cases of macrosomia, shoulder dystocia, or neonatal hypoglycemia.

With appropriate patient selection, some older, chronically ill patients can generate high-quality LUS self-images that are non-inferior to those generated by trained physicians using the same device, thereby enabling remote detection of interstitial changes, which may indicate pulmonary congestion. The accuracy of the home ultrasound device was comparable to that of the GS device for B-line detection and the image quality of the home-device was non-inferior.

Pulsenmore ES is a self-scanning ultrasound system for remote fetal assessment. It is composed of a hand-held transducer that serves as a smartphone cradle coupled with an application and clinician’s web-viewer dashboard. Recently, a novel capability was added to the system allowing for offline fetal heart rate (FHR) and maximal vertical pocket (MVP) measurements. The aim of this study was to evaluate these tools for usability and accuracy.
